All Things Change

Time, as it is said, is a wasting. There is not enough of it in a day, let alone a lifetime.

Operation World War II Remembered has gone through many stages in its existence. The most recent is one of silence. Life’s events have wrought changes in our conditions; life’s insistences have brought demands upon our circumstances. Though we seek still to honor our mission, our doing so has become less public, less dependent upon others, less reliant upon our time.

Time is, after all, a man-made construct. Though we may wish to have both more and less of it, it ebbs and flows regardless of our desires and our uses of it. As things stand now, OWW2RI, while not yet ceasing to exist, has fallen into dormancy . . . and there is no foreseeable easy or consistent way out of such a state. As a one-man staff I no longer have the fortitude, fortune, nor forthrightness to persist. Veteran’s stories still remain out there. History will not vanish. All we’ve done thus far doesn’t count for naught.

The Custer-Hawk Gazette comes forth again. I’m working on the latest edition now. This issue will go out both online and in print to all current subscribers. After this one, only our veterans, handful of lifetime subscribers, and those who’ve paid for subscriptions will continue to receive printed copies. Everyone else – if I have email addresses for you – will receive email notifications of the latest issue being posted. Eventually new issues will only appear online. And the frequency of publication? Perhaps one issue per year, perhaps only a final one after this latest.

Either way, OWW2RI is no longer accepting donations, no longer seeking sponsors, no longer wanting any of your money. Anyone can peruse the site; if you’re a subscriber, you can also read the old archived issues as you wait for the last few issues to arrive via snail mail or email.

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for your support via words; encouragement; donations of money, time, services, or material; subscriptions; contacts; and information. It’s been an interesting journey, one providing me experiences and education to last a lifetime.
